Did you know that Rolex is officially a charity owned by its founder’s Hans Wilsdorf Foundation? It is so. And why is this information important for a post on the most popular Rolex models? Because as a charity, the company is not required to publish any data about its sales. In other words — we can actually only speculate about which replica Rolex models are at the imaginary peak. However, if you ask the opinion of experts and connoisseurs, they mostly agree on the same top five that we will show you today.
So what pieces are they?
– Rolex Submariner
Indeed, probably the most popular and recognizable Rolex of all time. The model was introduced in 1953 and was developed to be able to serve divers as well. It includes the patented Oyster case, which makes the Rolex Submariner most likely the world’s first reliably waterproof model. However, the watch not only fulfilled its function, its timeless and elegant design was suitable for any social occasion. And while with the original model you could “only” dive to a depth of 330 feet, the modern versions can easily handle 1000 feet. Due to their popularity, they will never warm up in the store for long, but if you are lucky, you can come across them here.
– Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
Unless you’ve spent the last 20 years shipwrecked on a deserted island, you probably haven’t missed that the Rolex Daytona has become one of the most sought-after models of recent decades. This now iconic Swiss watch was originally made for car racers and got its name from the city of Daytona, Florida, which is one of the most important “racing” cities in the world. The model boasts a reliable chronograph and tachymeter, thanks to which it can accurately measure speed up to an incredible 400 km/h. Due to its distinctive sporty appearance, Rolex Daytona watches have become very popular especially among men.
– Rolex Datejust
The Rolex Datejust belongs to the most historic models, the production of which had to be extended many times due to the huge demand. Launched in 1945, the watch became an important pioneer thanks to the first-ever self-winding date function. The proprietary Cyclops lens with a magnifying effect, introduced by Rolex in the early 1950s, will help with the comfortable reading of the current date. The watch is available in several finishes and colors and can be decorated with diamonds. Equally popular among both women and men, Rolex Datejusts are the perfect everyday wear piece that will make you feel luxurious even in sweatpants.
– Rolex GMT-Master
The Rolex GMT-Master watch was made specifically for Pan American Airways’ pilots and navigators and was introduced to the world in 1954. The original model, which was produced until the end of the 1990s, featured a 24-hour display and a fourth hand, making it possible to set the time according to two different time zones. At the beginning of the eighties, however, fake Rolex came up with the GMT-Master II model. Although at first glance it looks completely identical to its predecessor, the difference lies in the technology. This is updated in the younger version. It now includes a quick-set hour hand that can be turned to another time zone without having to stop the minute and second hands.
– ROLEX Yacht-Master
The last piece of our top five is the Yacht-Master model from 1992, which was created as a more lucrative alternative to the Submariner model. The Yacht-Master became the first Rolex sports watch to be offered in three different sizes — 29mm, 35mm and 40mm. However, with modern Yacht-Masters, only two sizes are available, namely 37mm and 40mm. Both versions, the original Yacht-Master and the modern Yacht-Master II are water-resistant, run by robust hands, and the numbers are distinctive and easy to read. The combination of their practicality and timeless appearance immediately made them among Rolex favorites. Like other models of the brand, they stand out with their robust construction – Rolexes are built to last. You can read more about this topic in our article here.
