The Oyster Perpetual Explorer and Oyster Perpetual Explorer II are the product of Rolex’s deep interest in exploration. These models are used where few people dare to go. For many years, the brand has had the chance to test the models in real life by equipping its watches for pole, mountain and cave exploration. Some of the world’s most daring explorers, mountaineers, and scientists have tested the reliability of these watches under the harshest conditions.
From the 1930s onwards, replica Rolex began to equip many expeditions with Oyster Perpetual watches. The feedback from these expeditions was used in the development of what would later be called the Professional series. These watches were used as equipment; just like Explorer and Explorer II. Rolex watches have witnessed some of humanity’s greatest adventures. One of them is the Everest climb, which was carried out under the leadership of Sir John Hunt in 1953, and Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay made their names in history as the first explorers to climb the world’s highest peak.
Designed For Discovery
Launched in 1953, the Explorer stands out with its simple design and high legibility black dial with large hour markers and characteristic 3, 6 and 9 numerals. It is a professional purpose model created to show the time in the most accurate way under any condition. Reading the dial is easy even in the dark thanks to the Chromalight technique. Explorer today, 36 mm like the original model.
The Explorer II was introduced in 1971 and, like the Explorer spirit, continues Rolex’s privileged association with exploration. Thanks to the 24-hour display that combines the additional orange hour hand and the engraved bezel, the Explorer II allows its wearer to easily distinguish between daytime and nighttime hours, a practical feature where it is difficult to distinguish between day and night at certain times of the year, such as the poles or caves, as well as reading the time in a second time zone.
Durability To Extreme Conditions
Watches in the Explorer series have continually evolved to meet the needs of explorers, becoming more robust and reliable each time. The Explorer is available in Oystersteel steel or a yellow Rolesor version (mixture of Oystersteel steel and yellow gold), while the Explorer II is made exclusively from Oystersteel steel. Developed exclusively by Rolex, Oystersteel steel is a unique alloy with excellent corrosion resistance properties.
Both models are complemented by the Oyster bracelet, a three-piece bracelet known for its durability. The bracelet, which has an Oysterlock folding safety clasp patented and designed by Rolex to prevent accidental opening, also has an Easylink comfort extension link developed by the brand, which allows the user to easily extend the length of the bracelet up to 5 mm. It is equipped with the Explorer II Caliber 3285 while the Explorer has Caliber 3230. Both self-winding mechanical movements were developed and produced entirely by Rolex.
Superior Stronometer Certificate
Like all Rolex watches, the Explorer and Explorer II are certified Superlative Chronometers. This title is proof that every watch that leaves the brand’s workshop has successfully passed a series of tests carried out in Rolex’s own laboratories and in accordance with its own criteria. Outstanding Stopwatch status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies all fake Rolex watches.
